Javik Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I am working on an alert program to tell people when they're running out of account storage space. It will show a tray icon with the percentage of storage used, and will flash/animate when account storage is getting very full.However after the first run of the program for testing, Windows 7 moves the icon to the "inactive/hidden" icon list that is not continuously visible in the tray. This occurs even when the tray icon is being animated using "TraySetIcon(@ScriptFullPath,-$IconNumber)".How can the program tell Windows 7 to not hide this particular taskbar icon by default?Is there a way to override hiding of this icon for the logged-on user, via the HKCU registry?

Javik Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 Seems a little extreme to permanently unhide everything, but from checking around it appears Microsoft is not providing an alternate way to control visibility for single application icons.

guinness Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 If you want to get the users attention personally I would use a 'Toast Popup' instead of flashing the trayicon, but often than not when I see the trayicon flashing I just think the program is stuck and close it.
