Pausing a script

First of all, hello everyone!

I would like to mention that I am a complete and utter newbie when it comes to AutoIT and it's language. After spendingsome time researching the help files, searching the forums and googling too I still haven't found the exact thing I need.

Here is what the goal is: remapping ` into NUMPADMULT.

And this is my issue: a function to pause/unpause the script. I can't figure out how to make this work. Any help?

My progress so far

#SingleInstance force

HotKeySet("{`}","afunc")

while 1
sleep(100)
WEnd

Func afunc()
Send("{NUMPADMULT}")
EndFunc

Something like this? ESC toggles the function of afunc.

HotKeySet("{`}", "afunc")
HotKeySet("{ESC}", "pause")
Global $iPaused = 0
While 1
    Sleep(100)
WEnd

Func afunc()
    If $iPaused Then
        ConsoleWrite("Paused" & @LF)
    Else
        ConsoleWrite("Numpad" & @LF)
    EndIf
EndFunc   ;==>afunc

Func pause()
    $iPaused = Not $iPaused
EndFunc   ;==>pause
