kor
#include <Array.au3> Local $aArray[5] = ["", "", "mikejones", "john", ""] ConsoleWrite(_ArrayMaxIndex($aArray) & @CR) For $i = 0 To UBound($aArray) - 1 If $aArray[$i] = "" Then ConsoleWrite("blank value at index = " & $i & @CR) Next I would expect _ArrayMaxIndex to return a value of 3 considering "john" is the last non blank value in my array of 5 elements. John is at element 3. I am trying to find code that will give me something as simple as... what element in an array is the last non blank value. water
This code gives you the index of the highest element with a nonblank value: For $i = UBound($aArray) - 1 To 0 Step -1 If $aArray[$i] <> "" Then ConsoleWrite("Highest nonblank value at index: " & $i & @CR) ExitLoop EndIf Next My UDFs and Tutorials: Spoiler UDFs:Active Directory (NEW 2022-02-19 - Version 1.6.1.0) - Download - General Help & Support - Example Scripts - WikiExcelChart (2017-07-21 - Version 0.4.0.1) - Download - General Help & Support - Example ScriptsOutlookEX (2021-11-16 - Version 1.7.0.0) - Download - General Help & Support - Example Scripts - WikiOutlookEX_GUI (2021-04-13 - Version 1.4.0.0) - DownloadOutlook Tools (2019-07-22 - Version 0.6.0.0) - Download - General Help & Support - WikiPowerPoint (2021-08-31 - Version 1.5.0.0) - Download - General Help & Support - Example Scripts - WikiTask Scheduler (NEW 2022-07-28 - Version 1.6.0.1) - Download - General Help & Support - Wiki Standard UDFs:Excel - Example Scripts - WikiWord - Wiki Tutorials:ADO - WikiWebDriver - Wiki
Moderators Melba23 Posted November 20, 2012 Moderators Share Posted November 20, 2012 kor, As "M" is of higher value in the ASCII table than "J", the highest element is "mikejones" at no #2 - so the returned value is quite correct. You have obviously misunderstood the function. For what you want I suggest something like this: Local $aArray[5] = ["", "", "mikejones", "john", ""] $iNon_Blank_Index = -1 For $i = 0 To UBound($aArray) - 1 If $aArray[$i] <> "" Then $iNon_Blank_Index = $i EndIf Next ConsoleWrite("Last non blank element = " & $iNon_Blank_Index & @CRLF) M23 Any of my own code posted anywhere on the forum is available for use by others without any restriction of any kind Open spoiler to see my UDFs: Spoiler ArrayMultiColSort ---- Sort arrays on multiple columnsChooseFileFolder ---- Single and multiple selections from specified path treeview listingDate_Time_Convert -- Easily convert date/time formats, including the language usedExtMsgBox --------- A highly customisable replacement for MsgBoxGUIExtender -------- Extend and retract multiple sections within a GUIGUIFrame ---------- Subdivide GUIs into many adjustable framesGUIListViewEx ------- Insert, delete, move, drag, sort, edit and colour ListView itemsGUITreeViewEx ------ Check/clear parent and child checkboxes in a TreeViewMarquee ----------- Scrolling tickertape GUIsNoFocusLines ------- Remove the dotted focus lines from buttons, sliders, radios and checkboxesNotify ------------- Small notifications on the edge of the displayScrollbars ----------Automatically sized scrollbars with a single commandStringSize ---------- Automatically size controls to fit textToast -------------- Small GUIs which pop out of the notification area
water
BTW: Function _ArrayMaxIndex only makes sense for numeric content.
