rwright142
I am trying to write an app where a user saves a configuration to a file then loads it later to replay it. I will probably use iniwrite for this but I am trying to find the best way to read a file like an ini file into an array. I searched and found a reference to RecFileListToArray but that function does not appear to work. Maybe it's an old command? I know about iniread but not sure that will be able to read and load into an array. Any ideas on the function to use? Or should I make a do loop and load the values into an array until it reaches the EOF?
Realm
Hello rwright142, Have you tried IniReadSection()? This will read an entire section into a 2D array. rwright142
DUH! Thanks... That was the next function in the list... I should have read further before I posted but thank you again very much for replying so quickly!
Moderators Melba23 Posted December 30, 2012 Moderators Share Posted December 30, 2012 rwright142,found a reference to RecFileListToArray but that function does not appear to work. Maybe it's an old command? On the contrary, RecFileListToArray is alive and well and can be found in my sig - and from the feedback I get it works very well. However, it reads a list of the contents of folders into an array, not the contents of ini files, so there is no real surprise that it did not work for you in this case. rwright142
Thanks for the clarification. I was looking in the list of functions here http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/docs/functions.htm and was looking for RecFileListToArray which is not correct. Moderators Melba23 Posted December 30, 2012 Moderators Share Posted December 30, 2012 annybaby, That function lists filenames from with a single folder - so again not a lot of use for reading ini files, which is what the OP wanted. guinness
Why post the whole UDF? Also what you just posted contains errors that have been fixed in the latest beta. So not a smart move providing a UDF that might be outdated in 6 months time.
