Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Iv got a bit of a weird problem here, i try to run my compiled script on my Pc, no problem, on another Pc, no problem, on this particular Pc i get the error:

Line 12854 (File "\\path to script.exe"):

Error: Variable must be of type "Object".

I do not have 12854 lines of code and it works on other Pcs without issue.

Anyone have any ideas where i need to start to troubleshoot this?

Thanks

Looks like you have a lot of includes in your script and that the particular PC behaves a bit different.

Can you post your script so we can get a better idea what you try to do?

I do indeed have 13 includes, im yet to tidy the script up and am at 1054 lines (dont shoot me, im sure it could be done in say 200 lines i was better at this).

Found it!!

Nothing wrong with the script but because it makes you specify a domain controller during AD Open (as below) when that domain controller is down then the script wont run!:

_AD_Open("", "", "DC=one,DC=two,DC=com", "Server.dnsdomain.com", "CN=Configuration,DC=one,DC=two,DC=com")

I'm not sure how to get around the not having to specify a particular server? but i am thankful it just highlighted an issue with that domain that i am in the process of fixing!

Can you run a short test script that only consists of two lines:

#include <AD.au3>
_AD_Open("", "", "DC=one,DC=two,DC=com", "Server.dnsdomain.com", "CN=Configuration,DC=one,DC=two,DC=com")

So we get the exact line number where it crashes in the AD UDF and then we can see what we can do about it.

If i change my script to a DC that doesn't exist but run it through SciTE i get:

(464) : ==> Variable must be of type "Object".:
$__oAD_Command.CommandText = "<LDAP://" & $sAD_HostServer & "/" & $sAD_DNSDomain & ">;(sAMAccountName=" & $sSamAccountName & ");distinguishedName;subtree"
$__oAD_Command^ ERROR

When I try to connect to a DC that does not exist I get no crash but @error is set to 4 by _AD_Open.

I run AutoIt 3.3.12.0.
Which version do you run?

Im also running v3.3.12.0.

If i add the error checking from the example i also get:

Function _AD_Open encountered a problem. @error = 4, @extended = -2147016646.

Ahh ... error checking. I encourage you to check for @error <> 0 after each call to an _AD_* function. So you can avoid your script crashing. Debugging is then much easier because the crash most of the time occurs not at the line where the error happened ;)

      Is this better to check a variable before you assign it to a value that could be the same?
      for example:
      local $EmptyLog = false func WriteLog($text) _guictrledit_appendtext($log, ($EmptyLog ? @CRLF : $empty) & $text) If $EmptyLog Then $EmptyLog = False endfunc or does AutoIt behind the scenes already check this?
      i guess overwriting memory with the same value over and over again is not good if you can prevent this with a check?

      I see $hWnd used as a local variable in a lot of script examples.  I know the 'h' is used for handles, but what is the 'Wnd' short for?
      Thanks!

      i have seen many pointing out issues related to this, i tried reading through them - still unable to solve mine.. i have a script which reads certain lines based on a search item, this is an iterative process - the ldflst_file gets updated for each iteration and the script finds the line number which has the search item. this works perfectly for few iterations, but stops in some cases abruptly with the error =
      Subscript used on non-accessible variable $aRead^ ERROR I have verified that the search item is present in the file. what could be the reason for this code to stop in certain cases. thanks for help
      my code below (partial).. full code is in attachment

      local $aRead=FileReadToArray($ldflst_file)
      global $ldflst_var1=" JOINT  LOAD       FORCE(X)        FORCE(Y)        FORCE(Z)       MOMENT(X)       MOMENT(Y)       MOMENT(Z)"

      for $i= 0 to $ldflst_totlines    ; ldflst_totlines is total number of  lines in the file 'ldflst_file'

          if $aRead[$i]=$ldflst_var1 Then
              $ldflst_LFound=$i
              ExitLoop

       Hello all"
      I have curious problem with com object implementation of Sapi 5.1.
      In some cases }Some Voice engines] the metods for retrieve the voice parameters fails with error :Member not exists:.
      But the Retrieved Voice object can speak the given text, so It exists and work.
      Example of this type of Engine can be this one: http://download.kobavision.be/KobaSpeech3/KobaSpeech 3 With Vocalizer Serena - English (Great Britain).exe (can work as demo)
      So my question is> Is there some way to workaround or solve this issue?
      What i tryed:
      1. Typical use of Sapi.spvoice object:
      $oMyError = ObjEvent("AutoIt.Error","MyErrFunc"); Install a custom error handler

        $spvoice = ObjCreate("sapi.spvoice")
      for $voice in $spvoice.getvoices()
        msgbox(0, "Voice", $voice.getdescription())
      next
      Func MyErrFunc()
      $HexNumber = hex($oMyError.number, 8)
      Msgbox(0,"","We intercepted a COM Error !" & @CRLF &"Number is: " & $HexNumber & @CRLF &"Windescription is: " & $oMyError.windescription)
      SetError(1)
      Endfunc

      2. Implement workaround based on Nvda Screen reader sapi5 Library at https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/blob/master/source/synthDrivers/sapi5.py
      Thys code in Pascal should work, so i tryed to reproduce it in Autoit.
      Pascal code just as example:
                   SOTokens:=SpVoice.GetVoices('','');
                   for i:=0 to SOTokens.Count-1 do
                   try
                        SOToken:=SOTokens.Item(I); s:=SOToken.GetDescription(0);
      end
      In Autoit I tryed it like this:
      $oMyError = ObjEvent("AutoIt.Error","MyErrFunc"); Install a custom error handler
        $spvoice = ObjCreate("sapi.spvoice")
      for $i = 0 to $spvoice.getvoices.count-1
      $name = $spvoice.getvoices.item($i).getdescription
      msgbox(0,"Voice", $name)
      next
      Func MyErrFunc()
      $HexNumber = hex($oMyError.number, 8)
      Msgbox(0,"","We intercepted a COM Error !" & @CRLF &"Number is: " & $HexNumber & @CRLF &"Windescription is: " & $oMyError.windescription)
      SetError(1)
      Endfunc
      Both of this methods returning same Error ("Member not exists.").
      Thanks a lot for help.

      Hello, i'm trying to rename a variable to another variable name (not the value attached to the variable).  This would save me TONS of coding.
      Here is an example:

      <autoit>
      Local $clear1="$SATJ"  ;sets the $clear1 variable to become $SATJ
      GUICtrlSetState($clear1 & "3", $GUI_UNCHECKED)  ;i want this to come out to be $SATJ3, it should look something like - GUICtrlSetState($SATJ3, $GUI_UNCHECKED)
      </autoit>
      Is this possible?  I've been searching all the forums and help files for hours.  My javascript friend referenced me to the solution on JS, which lead me to searching through the "assign" help on autoit, but not much info on it.
      I've already tried
      <autoit>
      Assign($clear1, $SATJ)
      </autoit>

      any help is greatly appreciated!!!
