objget( excel.application ) in scheduled task

5 posts in this topic

Hello :)

I have a script running that uses "objget( excel.application )" to get the name of an open document:

 $Kundenbestand = ObjGet("", "Excel.Application")
    $Kundenbestand.Visible = 1 ;
 $sText = WinGetTitle("[ACTIVE]")

This code works fine, so I wanted to start it every night. But when the exe is startet by a "scheduled task" in Windows, the ObjGet does not work anymore. This is the error message:

variable must be of type object

Where is the difference, if I open the exe by hand or by a scheduled task?!? Anybody an idea?

Sally

The scheduled task is being run as user System. What is the value of @error after ObjGet?

You mean the error code?

80020006

I am not yet very experienced with error handling!

This error stands for: HRESULT: 0x80020006 (DISP_E_UNKNOWNNAME))
Excel is unknown to the system user.

When searching Google for "hresult 0x80020006 excel scheduled task" you will get a lot of hits describing the problem.
