Cannot Run Event Viewer

 Share

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am trying to run the Event Viewer application using AutoIT since I need to get a copy of the Administrative Logs in the EVTX format, I am trying to launch the Event Viewer and then trying to simulate the keyboard actions but nothing is happening.

Here is my code -

Run("eventvwr.msc")
WinWaitActive("Event Viewer")
Send("!A")

The event viewer does not start at all. Furthermore, I noticed one thing that on the Taskbar, there is an AutoIT script icon which when right clicked, has a tickmark to "Script Paused".

Any idea what I might be doing wrong here?

Thanks!

With Run you have to specify "The full path of the program (EXE, BAT, COM, or PIF) to run".
Use ShellExecute if you just want to pass the program name.
