Hello all,

check this example:

Opt("TrayOnEventMode", 1)
Opt("TrayAutoPause", 0)

TrayCreateItem("SetValue")
TrayItemSetOnEvent(-1, "_SetValue")

While 1
    Sleep(1000)
WEnd

Func _SetValue($bValue = False)
    Local $iReturnValue

    If ($bValue = True) Then
        $iReturnValue = 1
    Else
        $iReturnValue = 0
    EndIf

    Tooltip("$iReturnValue: " & $iReturnValue)
EndFunc

If you try to run it it will generate an error at the If condition. If that function is called directly it will run ok, but if you use a tray item the default value wont get assigned.

It doesn't matter if the default value is False or True, or if you invert the logic. Or if you use an integer or a string.

I don't think I'm doing anything wrong, am I?

OnEvent functions can not have parameters, if they have parameters, they are ignored when the function is called by the OnEvent trigger.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Back up and restore Windows user files _Array.au3 - Modified array functions that include support for 2D arrays.  -  ColorChooser - An add-on for SciTE that pops up a color dialog so you can select and paste a color code into a script.  -  Customizable Splashscreen GUI w/Progress Bar - Create a custom "splash screen" GUI with a progress bar and custom label.  -  _FileGetProperty - Retrieve the properties of a file  -  SciTE Toolbar - A toolbar demo for use with the SciTE editor  -  GUIRegisterMsg demo - Demo script to show how to use the Windows messages to interact with controls and your GUI.  -   Latin Square password generator

but shouldn't it apply at least the default assigned parameters?

No, why would you think that? The remark clearly says, OnEvent functions can't have parameters. And as I stated above, if they do have parameters, they're ignored when the function is called.

Ok, ok. I supposed that the local variables of a function don't get affected if they are ignored.
My mistake.
