Is it a bug? (TreeView sort crash) - (Moved)

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I think I found a bug in _GUICtrlTreeView_Sort: when calling it on a TreeView that contains ONE topmost item with ONE child, it crashes like this:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\\AutoIt3\Include\GuiTreeView.au3" (2501) : ==> Array variable has incorrect number of subscripts or subscript dimension range exceeded.:
$aTreeView[$aTreeView[0]] = $hChild
^ ERROR
->13:15:26 AutoIt3.exe ended.rc:1

Here is the testing code:

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <TreeViewConstants.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>

#include <GuiTreeView.au3>

#Region ### START Koda GUI section ###
$Form1 = GUICreate("Form1", 402, 290, 302, 218)
$TreeView = GUICtrlCreateTreeView(8, 8, 385, 273)
GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)
#EndRegion ### END Koda GUI section ###

_GUICtrlTreeView_AddChild($TreeView, _GUICtrlTreeView_AddFirst($TreeView, 0, "Parent"), "Child")

_GUICtrlTreeView_Sort($TreeView)

While 1
    $nMsg = GUIGetMsg()
    Switch $nMsg
        Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
            Exit

    EndSwitch
WEnd

Is it a bug or am I missing something? Have it already been signaled (could not find by searching the forum).

Thanks ;)

It appears to be a bug in that the UDF doesn't check to see if there's more than one TV item to be sorted or not.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I hereby grant any person the right to use any code I post, that I am the original author of, on the autoitscript.com forums, unless I've specifically stated otherwise in the code or the thread post. If you do use my code all I ask, as a courtesy, is to make note of where you got it from.

Agreed. This error does not occur when more than one item is present.

Until when (if) the UDF gets addressed, a work-around to avoid this issue could be handled by checking if more than 1 (top-level) item is present.  You may also want to consider using the BeginUpdate and EndUpdate functions.  I experienced a control redraw issue which this addressed,

#include <GUIConstantsEx.au3>
#include <TreeViewConstants.au3>
#include <WindowsConstants.au3>

#include <GuiTreeView.au3>

#Region ### START Koda GUI section ###
$Form1 = GUICreate("Form1", 402, 290, 302, 218)
$TreeView = GUICtrlCreateTreeView(8, 8, 385, 273)
GUISetState(@SW_SHOW)
#EndRegion ### END Koda GUI section ###

_GUICtrlTreeView_BeginUpdate($TreeView)

_GUICtrlTreeView_AddChild($TreeView, _GUICtrlTreeView_AddFirst($TreeView, 0, "Parent2"), "Child")
_GUICtrlTreeView_AddChild($TreeView, _GUICtrlTreeView_AddFirst($TreeView, 0, "Parent3"), "Child")
_GUICtrlTreeView_AddChild($TreeView, _GUICtrlTreeView_AddFirst($TreeView, 0, "Parent1"), "Child")

If _GUICtrlTreeView_GetSiblingCount($TreeView,_GUICtrlTreeView_GetFirstItem($TreeView)) > 1 Then _GUICtrlTreeView_Sort($TreeView)

_GUICtrlTreeView_EndUpdate($TreeView)

While 1
    $nMsg = GUIGetMsg()
    Switch $nMsg
        Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE
            Exit

    EndSwitch
WEnd
