Getting used range of specified column in an Excel

In this following script, the count value is updating for the whole sheet used rows. But I need used range of a specified column. 

Here I attached excel sheet.

If it search in A column it should give $count =8.

If it search in B column it should give $count =5.

If it search in C column it should give $count =3.

If it search in A column it should give $count =7.

What I missed here friends..!
