Variables In Order

Recommended Posts

Hello all! I have a pretty simple task, and, for whatever reason 🙄, I can't do it

I currently have this, which randomly picks one of the variables. How can I make it go in order each time i call $UserCharPattern  ?

Dim $Upattern[11]
$Upattern[1] = "Xoxoxoxoxooooxxx"
$Upattern[2] = "Xooxxoxxooo"
$Upattern[3] = "Xooxxxoxxoxoxo"
$Upattern[4] = "Xoxxoxxoxxoxoxo"
$Upattern[5] = "Xooooxxoxxoxxxxxoo"
$Upattern[6] = "Xooxzxoxxzooox"
$Upattern[7] = "Xooxxxozxxoxoxo"
$Upattern[8] = "Xoxxzoxxoxxzoxoxoz"
$Upattern[9] = "Xooooxxoxxoxxxzxxoo"
$Upattern[10] ="Xooxxoxzxooox"

$i = Random(1, 10, 0)
Global $UserCharPattern = $Upattern[$i]

Thank you in advance!

For $i = 1 to 10

Not sure what you mean by that, could you clarify ?  BTW you should use

$i = Random(1, 10, 1)

since you want to get an integer for the array subscript...

randomly picks

How can I make it go in order

are two affirmations that don't go in the same way.
In the first case, you should use something like this:

Global $Upattern[11], $i = 0, $UserCharPattern

$Upattern[1] = "Xoxoxoxoxooooxxx"
$Upattern[2] = "Xooxxoxxooo"
$Upattern[3] = "Xooxxxoxxoxoxo"
$Upattern[4] = "Xoxxoxxoxxoxoxo"
$Upattern[5] = "Xooooxxoxxoxxxxxoo"
$Upattern[6] = "Xooxzxoxxzooox"
$Upattern[7] = "Xooxxxozxxoxoxo"
$Upattern[8] = "Xoxxzoxxoxxzoxoxoz"
$Upattern[9] = "Xooooxxoxxoxxxzxxoo"
$Upattern[10] = "Xooxxoxzxooox"

For $j = 0 To UBound($Upattern) - 1 Step 1
    $i = Random(1, 10, 1)
    $UserCharPattern = $Upattern[$i]
    ConsoleWrite("$UserCharPattern = " & $UserCharPattern & @CRLF)
Next

In the second case, you can use the solution provided by @BrewManNH :)
