Lobo65 Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 Hi everybody, I need advise how to parse the proper parameters to the _AD_Open function. I have a lab enviroment with one domain controller where ad is runing. I need to add computers, that where freshls set up with just one or 2 local users and the standard workgroup. My thought after reading the UDF documentation from water was that JoinDomain.au would be best for that job. I learned I have to add parameters to the _AD_Open function. _AD_Open ("Domain\Administrator", "Passw0rd", "DC=Domain,DC=Top", "LAB-WIN-SRV01.Servers.Domain.Top") There is one parameter missing: called "$sConfigurationParam". I simply cannot figure out what the hack that might be. Any advise would be helpful. Thanks
water Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 The wiki explains how to use _AD_Open. The parameters for _AD_Open are only required if you want to connect to AD with a different account (default is the user you are currently logged in) or to a different domain. water Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 Just start the _AD_Open.au3 example script. You will see the values of all parameters for _AD_Open in the GUI. Just copy the needed values to your script. Lobo65 Posted September 15, 2020 Author Posted September 15, 2020 (edited) Hi water, still me... 😄 As I said before, I read your documentations and almost every thread. Still I am not able to get any usefull output but an error message: Function _AD_Open encoutered a problem. @error = 4, @extended = -2147023541. (This error message comes from _AD_Open.exe; no credentials where passed) Whatever that means 🙃 I am not suprised since I still wonder what this "$SConfiguration = $sAD_Configuration" might be and therefore this value has not been entered by me. My intention is to add an given workstation that has never seen an AD before to an given AD using the credentials of the given AD\Administrator, the name of the AD and the Servername. I am still stuck... Edited September 15, 2020 by Lobo65 Forgotten things
Lobo65 Posted September 15, 2020 Author Posted September 15, 2020 If I modify JoinDomain.au to my needs and pass the parameters to _AD_Open () and compile it, I get same as above with these codes: @error = 6, @extended = 0 And yes: "The parameters for _AD_Open are only required if you want to connect to AD with a different account (default is the user you are currently logged in) or to a different domain" ...and, so I have read somewhere in your documentation, if the current user and current machine are not in that AD already. Or did I get things wrong in my head? 🙂
water Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Did you run the _AD_Open.au3 example script on a PC already connected to the domain? Lobo65 Posted September 15, 2020 Author Posted September 15, 2020 I ran it on the machine, I want to Join.
Lobo65 Posted September 15, 2020 Author Posted September 15, 2020 But now I get an idea what you wanted to tell...😁 You wanted me to run it on an already joinded and connected machine, so I could see the results, right?
water Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Correct. The example script connects to the Domain Controller and then retrieves all variables you can use with the _AD_Open function call and displays them in the GUI.
