I have done a search through the forum for possible solutions to my question, but haven't come across anything similar (or if i did, i didn't realize... once again, very new to AutoIT and scripting in general). Background: I have a locked down XP machine with Sony Reader for PC installed. In order for the application to run properly it had to be run as Admin. I have created an AutoIT exe (called ReaderAI.exe) which launches the application as an Admin and i have replaced all the user shortcuts to the application and pointed them to my ReaderAI.exe (please see existing script below which opens reader.exe as an admin) which works perfectly, except... Problem: When a user opens an .acsm (ebook) file on the computer, it opens with the default application (reader.exe) without Admin rights. Is there any way to edit my existing AutoIT exe (ReaderAI.exe) to be able to use it as the default application to open an .acsm file which then passes reader.exe the file to be opened (the file which was double clicked on)? Existing script for my compiled readerAI.exe: RunAs("administrator", @ComputerName, "xxxxxx",0,"C:\Program Files\Sony\ReaderDesktop\Reader.exe") If anyone can help, i'd greatly appreciate it. Then, your exe would have to accept command line parameters so that it could properly start the program and open the document you double clicked. There are examples of how to do both in the forums and the help file (the command line passing part). If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise.
