StringInStr - Look for multiple keywords

Is there a way to look for multiple substrings in one string?

For example, say I have a list of keywords that need deleted from an excel file. My script goes down the rows one line at a time and searches for these keywords. If any one of them is found, I want autoit to perform an action (delete).

So something like:

If StringInStr equals "Bob", "Cathy", "Tammy" or "Sally" Then

delete row

Else

go to next row

Any ideas? Thanks!

Look at StringRegExp and the OR (|) operator.

couple of ways to do this

You could put all your keywords into an array and loop through the file for each item in the array

something like

$keywords[4]
$keywords[0] = "Bob"
$keywords[1] = "Cathy"
$keywords[2] = "Tammy"
$keywords[3] = "Sally"

$file = _FileReadToArray($path,$filearray)

For $i = 1 To Ubound($keywords)
For $i2 = 1 To Ubound($file)-1
$string = StringInStr($file[$i2],$keywords[$i])
If $string <> 0 Then
Delete your line
EndIf
Next
Next

or you could use something like

If $stringInStr($file,BitOr("Bob","Cathy","Tammy","Sally")) <> 0 Then

Well, I'm not really sure if the 2nd will work but it looks as though it should

Thanks everyone for your help. Turns out I'm an idiot though.

I was able to just take out the stringinstr bit and do: if $var = "Bob" or $var = "Tom" or $var = "Sam" then...

Sometimes it's prettier to use Switch in similar cases.

And sometimes not...

Switch $var
    Case "Bob", "Joe", "Frank"
        $gender = "M"
    Case "Sue", "Mary", "Alice"
        $gender = "F"
    Case Else
        $gender = "?"
        MsgBox(16,"Error!", "Unknown member name")
EndSwitch

You're using BitOR wrong. Read the helpfile again and see why it doesn't work the way you think it does.
