how do you change the color of a button

Like you do with most controls, GUICtrlSetBkColor. Though honestly a coloured button doesn't look that great in a GUI, I prefer to use the default theme the user decides to choose.

Be careful because colouring buttons can cause problems - such as the button being captured by the {ENTER} key. This is due to a bug deep in the AutoIt core code which will not be fixed until that code is rewritten (i.e. probably never). :(

My advice - do not colour buttons. ;)

I do it with a picture file as a $button surface.

#include <ButtonConstants.au3>
$button= guictrlcreatebutton("", 188, 5, 146, 27, $bs_bitmap);specify that $button will use a bitmap
guictrlsetimage($button, $path_to_picture_file);define the image for the button. Call again with different path to change picture.
