Does anyone use RecursiveFileSearch by weaponx?

If so, how do I use it to search recursively for all folders starting with a certain string (ex; Jeff)?

I tried many variations including:

$files = RecursiveFileSearch('F:\','','Jeff',2)
$files = RecursiveFileSearch('F:\','','Jeff*',2)
$files = RecursiveFileSearch('F:\','Jeff','',2)
$files = RecursiveFileSearch('F:\','Jeff*','',2)

to no avail.

Hi,

You should use the UDF (not saying that the one you are using is bad), but this one is well powerful and explained.

Br, FireFox.

...and maintained.

I'm fine switching to use this if you say it is better documented and maintained but, after perusing the documentation, I am unable to clearly see how it can help me achieve my goal.

How do I use it to search recursively for all folders starting with a certain string (ex; Jeff)?

Did you read the header and look at the examples?

_RecFileListToArray("F:", "Jeff*.*", 2, 1), this will search the F: drive for any folder named Jeffxx or Jeffxx.xxx, only returning folder names, and recursing down.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

This will search within the folder "Base" for any folders beginning with "Dir" only.

$array = RecursiveFileSearch("Base", "", "^(Dir)", 2)
For $X = 0 to $array[0]
ConsoleWrite('['&$X&']: ' & $array[$X] & @CRLF)
;ConsoleWrite(StringTrimLeft($array[$X], 9) & @CRLF)
