I am starting to play with laptops and one very critical piece of information I need to determine is whether or not the laptop is docked in a docking station or not. Didn't find much on the form with respect to it. Can anyone give me some input?

Here is some shamelessly stolen code:

VBScript:
strRegKey = "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\IDConfigDB\CurrentDockInfo\DockingState"
Set wshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
strHWConfig = wshShell.RegRead(strRegKey)
Select Case strHWConfig
Case 0 'Workstation or Server
Case 1 'Undocked Laptop
Case 2 'Docked Laptop
End Select
WScript.Echo strHWConfig

Convert that to AutoIt format, and see if it works for you. I don't have a laptop dock to test this so I have no idea if it works.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

I hereby grant any person the right to use any code I post, that I am the original author of, on the autoitscript.com forums, unless I've specifically stated otherwise in the code or the thread post. If you do use my code all I ask, as a courtesy, is to make note of where you got it from.

I actually needed something like this, so I took your 'borrowed' code and went ahead and created a snippet.

MsgBox(4096, '', _IsDocked())

Func _IsDocked()
    Return RegRead('HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\IDConfigDB\CurrentDockInfo\DockingState', '') = 2
EndFunc   ;==>_IsDocked

Sorry everyone.
