Parse wordfile for name

Hi everyone

I've managed to parse a wordfile with regular expressions for an e-mail address. This works very well.

Now I would like to parse it for a name. Trouble of course is, how do you parse for a name?!

The only thing I have is that the name is allways in the same position and it has a frame around it. Does that help in any way?

I've attached the file it should be extracted from it is any help.

Problem is still, how do I look for a name? The file I added is just an example of many with different names.

Is there a way to tell the range only to look in that frame?

I'm not too familiar with Word but can you please tell me what kind of element you use to store the name?

I had a look at it. They look like standard html separation style tables...no names, nothing to reference. You cant even tab thrugh them ;(

But when you click on the frame around the name you can drag it to another location in the document. if we know the type of element we can try to directly access them using COM.

I'm not sure it is a table. I tried to select it and insert a row but Word doesn't offer table functions on this object.

This script opens the document and writes the content of all frames to the SciTE console:

Is there anyway to include parameters like these?

With $oFrame.Range;("Start=0", "End=10")

Although with this example it probably wont matter because they are all ID: 0

If you know the # of the frame you can directly access the content:

ConsoleWrite($oWord.ActiveDocument.Frames.Item(11).Range.Text & @LF)

The only issue I have left is when a blank file comes up, it exits with a error. How can I tell it to write instance a 1 if there is no name, or just blank.

Check the count of frames. If the count is lower than the item number you want to access then exit.

If $oWord.ActiveDocument.Frames.Count < 11 Then Exit

Why do you need to run it once? You should always check the number of frames before accessing an item.
