Sending commands in Putty

3 posts in this topic

Hi,

I am trying to send commands in a remote machine through the use of putty console.

Problem is that sometimes when my computer slowed down, the commands were, if not sent, not properly sent in the console.

Is there a way to send commands properly without using the Sleep function? Or somehow like a detector if it is already the time to input the commands in the console or wait for the I-beam to type the commands.

Run(putty.exe)
WinWaitActive("[CLASS:PuTTYConfigBox]")
Send("username")
Sleep(1000)
Send("password")
Sleep(1000)

If you search the forum you will find a lot of threads discussing Putty and PLink.

I'm sure your problem has already been discussed :)

You really should be using Plink (putty without the GUI).

Here is an example of running grep against a log on a remote system and piping the output to a log in a subfolder in the script directory:

$Connection = "plink.exe -ssh COMPUTERNAME -l USERNAME -pw PASSWORD"
$log_dir = @ScriptDir & "\" & @MON & @MDAY & @YEAR & "\"

Func _REMOTE_LOGIN()

$log = ">" & $log_dir & "\REMOTE_LOGIN.log"
$Command1 = "grep -i -P '(extraweb__authen HTTP)' /var/log/daily.log"
runwait('cmd /c ' & $Connection & ' ' & $Command1 & $log)

EndFunc ;_REMOTE_LOGIN()
