CRAP CRAP CRAP....using AutoIT 3.3.6.1

My backup overwrote the au3 file I was modifying and now I've lost all the coding in the au3 prior to the backup (couple hours of work that I guess I could retype). I have the latest code it the exe I made but I still need to do more work on it.

Tell me there is a way to extract the au3 from the exe???!!!

Bad news - with version 3.3.6.1 there is no legal way.

Search the forum for "decompile" in the title and you will find a lot of - locked - topics.

BTW, a good idea in the future would be to set the Tidy parameter to make backups of your script when it's run. I have it set to save 10 old copies of the scripts I write just in case I lose the original (they're usually on my thumb drive and I tend to forget them occasionally), or you write something that totally screws up what you were trying to accomplish. Everytime you run Tidy on your scripts, it will make a back up of it. It will overwrite the back ups after you have more than the number of backups you specify where #2 will overwrite #1, #3 overwrites #2 etc.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Tidy will by default create the backup version when you don;t do anything and will keep them all unless you set the parameter. ;)

An even better idea is to use cvsWrapper add-on to SciTE and install SVN on your pc and start keep the versions of all versions of your sources.

See, now I always thought it wouldn't save any at all unless I put something in that parameter in the INI file. :)

Good to know.

My reason for this was simple: I didn't wanted to be responsible for any screw-ups by tidy. :)
