9 posts in this topic

Hi guys, I am exausted and psycho exausted with this type of "merde". Please help me to process this:

$startup_on = IniRead($programdir & "\opt.ini", "Program Options", "Startup", "")
If $startup_on = "yes" Then GuiCtrlSetState($checkbox1, $GUI_CHECKED)
If $startup_on = "no" Then GuiCtrlSetState($checkbox1, $GUI_UNCHECKED)

This peace of code put checkmark on the checkbox accordingly to IniRead.. BUT IT DOESNT DO IT.

Try this...

$startup_on = IniRead($ProgramDir & "\opt.ini", "Program Options", "Startup", "Yes") ; <<<<< Add a Default if "Startup" doesn't exists.
If $startup_on == "yes" Then GuiCtrlSetState($checkbox1, $GUI_CHECKED)
If $startup_on == "No" Then GuiCtrlSetState($checkbox1, $GUI_UNCHECKED)

You don't need to do much to show that there is something wrong with your logic.

Thx. But the problem was in the placement of segment of this code with IniRead.. I placed it after checkbox control creation and everything now works fine. Thx alot anyway.

And dont push on my logic please.

Try this...

$startup_on = IniRead($ProgramDir & "\opt.ini", "Program Options", "Startup", "Yes") ; <<<<< Add a Default if "Startup" doesn't exists.
If $startup_on == "yes" Then GuiCtrlSetState($checkbox1, $GUI_CHECKED)
If $startup_on == "No" Then GuiCtrlSetState($checkbox1, $GUI_UNCHECKED)

I noticed something in your If...then check when looking for "yes". Your default parameter in the IniRead used "Yes" with an uppercase Y and your check for it was using a case sensitive check against "yes", lower case Y. If the .ini file had that saved as "Yes" the comparison will fail, or if the .ini file didn't have the key for startup in it, the default parameter in the IniRead will cause the check to fail as well.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

BrewManNH, test this

if 'yes' = "YES" then ConsoleWrite("yeah!" & @CRLF)

Ok, I did that, and it worked as expected. Now if you'll look at what guiness posted and now you try THIS code and tell me what YOU get?

if 'yes' == "YES" then ConsoleWrite("yeah!" & @CRLF)

Any questions as to what I was referring to now? I didn't think so.

Oops, very sorry BrewManNH, I thought you were referring to Electrico's original post which used '=' not '=='.

Sorry to have upset you with my mistake.
