Just file name

6 posts in this topic

Hello, what can I use to get just the file name of a file? Instead of FileGetShortName() or FileGetLongName() which also include the directory.

Ex: Program1.exe, Program2.bat, Music.mp3 etc...

Thanks for your time.

Hello,

This is a small func you can use to split it based on the "\" in a file path, then the last element should contain the filename.

You should add some FileExists inside the function and some different return values.

$filename = GetFileName("C:\lol.txt")

MsgBox(0, "", $filename)

Func GetFileName($pPath)
    Local $filename
    $filename = StringSplit($pPath, "\") ; split filepath base on "\"
Return $filename[$filename[0]] ;last element contains filename
EndFunc

Or use _PathSplit from the file management udf

#Include <File.au3>
_PathSplit($szPath, ByRef $szDrive, ByRef $szDir, ByRef $szFName, ByRef $szExt)

$szPath The path to be split (Can contain a UNC server or drive letter)

$szDrive String to hold the drive

$szDir String to hold the directory

$szFName String to hold the file name

$szExt String to hold the file extension
