file move paradox

i work with rental computers. we have a little server. we have a "customer shared" folder customers can use to move files between computers. this folder requires no special permissions. the destination folder ("old")already exists inside of the folder im trying to clean ("customer shared").

am i totally blind, or did i create a paradox?

ie, you cannot use the wildcard to include everything inside of the customer shared folder, then try and move the 'old' folder into itself. but if this is the case, shouldnt 8 or 9 as a flag create a new folder and overwrite the existing one? or can it not do that because the "old" folder is being used by autoit at the time because autoit has an open handle on it because its trying to move it?

im totally lost. ive drank way to much coffee, and i know this is probably easy. help is appreciated.

Just tested and I saw no problem, though I didn't use AutoIt, just the normal way. And the folder structure remained the same.

i tried it from one folder to another on my desktop and that works fine.

FileMove ("C:\Documents and Settings\username\Desktop\folder1\*", "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Desktop\folder1\folder2")

but when i try to do it from my computer to the server, it just idles and closes. its a windows server, but im weary about running scripts on it directly.

also tried this and no go. is this a network issue?

Without having access to a Server I am unable to test, but it could be a permission thing?! I have no idea right off the bat.
