wipped Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 (edited) Hi I got this: #include <Array.au3> Local $avArray[10] $avArray[1][0] = "TD0001" $avArray[2][0] = "TD0002" $avArray[3][0] = "TD0003" $avArray[4][0] = "TD0004" $avArray[5][0] = "TD0005" MsgBox(0,'Max String value', _ArrayMax($avArray, 0, 1)) $sInput = _ArrayMax($avArray, 0, 1) $sAlpha = StringMid($sInput, 1, 2) $sNumeric = StringMid($sInput, 3) $sNumeric = StringFormat("%04i", Number($sNumeric) + 1) $sOutput = $sAlpha & $sNumeric MsgBox(0, "Result", $sOutput) And how can i read the highest value like this? Thanks, RJ Edited January 23, 2011 by wipped
Moderators Melba23 Posted January 23, 2011 Moderators Posted January 23, 2011 wipped, I would create a temporary 1D array of the relevant dimension of the 2D array like this: #include <Array.au3> Local $avArray[6][2] $avArray[1][0] = "TD0001" $avArray[2][0] = "TD0002" $avArray[3][0] = "TD0003" $avArray[4][0] = "TD0004" $avArray[5][0] = "TD0005" Local $aTemp[UBound($avArray)] For $i = 1 To UBound($avArray) - 1 $aTemp[$i] = $avArray[$i][0] Next MsgBox(0,'Max String value', _ArrayMax($aTemp, 0, 1)) $sInput = _ArrayMax($aTemp, 0, 1) $sAlpha = StringMid($sInput, 1, 2) $sNumeric = StringMid($sInput, 3) $sNumeric = StringFormat("%04i", Number($sNumeric) + 1) $sOutput = $sAlpha & $sNumeric MsgBox(0, "Result", $sOutput) Does that do it? M23 Thanks alot it works, But can you tell me what Local $avArray[6][2] does?
Moderators Melba23 Posted January 23, 2011 Moderators Posted January 23, 2011 wipped,Did you try to run your initial code? Obviously not, or you would have seen the error: "Array variable has incorrect number of subscripts or subscript dimension range exceeded" when you tried to set the elements. Local $avArray[6][2] declares a 2D array which you need when setting the elements using $avArray[1][0] = "TD0001".You need the declaration to match the subsequent usage of the array. Even ReDim requires the number of dimensions to remain constant - it only allows you to vary the number of elements within a dimension. All clear? Ask again if not. guinness Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 But it's good to know for the future so you don't post questions like "How can I change the size of an Array when I don't know how big it will be!" And like Melba23 I am confused to how your first script worked?!
