Help: Open application

8 posts in this topic

Hello.

I am a total noob, confessed..

Never did a single script in Autoit but find it quite intriguing..

Been checking many of your scripts out here on the forum and also the exampel scripts provided in the installer.

I must say Autoit seem really competent.

Now to my problem..

I want to be able to open up a program in a window that is say 90% or 50% (value should be possible to change by me).

Say you want to run a notepad window and you always want it to be 30% of the set resolution of the active screen.

If anyone have had a citrix server you mught know what I am after. In that server you can set it up so that when a user is starting a application it will always open up in a window that is 90% of the clients screen.

Actually that is what I want to be able to use the script for. I am converting my home lab environment to microsoft remote-app instead of citrix and I have gotten used to the possibility to run programs in a 90% window on my client.

Would something like that even be possible in Autoit? If anyone would be kind enough and at least point me in the right direction..:)

Thank you for this great software, forum and over all resource..:)

Look at WinSetTitle() & WinMove() in the Help File. This should get you going :)

Look at WinSetTitle() & WinMove() in the Help File. This should get you going :)

Also @DesktopWidth and @DesktopHeight can be used to retrieve the desktop resolution.

You can do something like this:

Global $iHeightPerc = 30 ;30% of desktop height
Global $iWidthPerc = 40 ;40% of desktop Width

Run("notepad.exe")
WinMove(WinWait("[CLASS:Notepad]"),"",Default, Default, Round(@DesktopWidth * $iWidthPerc / 100), Round(@DesktopHeight * $iHeightPerc / 100))

Hi there guinness and Mass Spammer.

Thanks allot for the help pointing me and even coding it up for me.:)

I've added a little something to it to have it open top left of main screen..

Final code here..:)

; Open window % of full screen
Global $iHeightPerc = 90 ;90% of desktop height
Global $iWidthPerc = 90 ;90% of desktop Width

; Open window top left corner
Global $iX = 1;Top left corner of screen
Global $iY = 1 ;Top left corner of screen

; Start this file with parameters...
Run("Terminals.exe /favs:VsTerminal")
WinMove(WinWait("[CLASS:WindowsForms10.window.8.app.0.2e0c681]"),"",$iX, $iY, Round(@DesktopWidth * $iWidthPerc / 100), Round(@DesktopHeight * $iHeightPerc / 100))

Just wanted to thank you both and let you know it's working as I wanted it to..:P

Happens all the time. I should realy get an avatar.

I got the idea though. Always nice when someone takes the time to report success.
