Speedmaster
I apologize for being thick. ;-) Trying to center the calculator window with this snippet: But I'm getting errors. Can you show me the proper call to use the function? Also, my experience in other languages tells me that I shouldn't ever call functions that begin with an underscore, as they are usually/internal reserved functions. What's the standard in the AutoIT world? Thanks very much! Chris ChrisInterested in economics, watches, or pens? If so, check out my blog.
guinness
With regards to the naming of Functions I always use underscore "_" at the start of the Function e.g. Func _GUICreateEx(). The reason behind this is it shows the difference between the native AutoIt Functions and secondly if I create a Function called Func GUICreate() then of course this will fail, unlike Func _GUICreate() What code have you created so far? Func _Middle($win, $txt) $size = WinGetClientSize($win, $txt) Local $y = (@DesktopHeight / 2) - ($size[1] / 2) Local $x = (@DesktopWidth / 2) - ($size[0] / 2) Return WinMove($win, $txt, $x, $y) EndFunc ;==>_Middle I assume that $win is the name of the window. But not sure what $txt is? Are @DesktopHeight and @DesktopWidth are built-in system variables? I've tried a few calls similar to this with no luck: _Middle("Calculator", "Calc Window") ChrisInterested in economics, watches, or pens? If so, check out my blog. Moderators Melba23 Posted March 15, 2011 Moderators Share Posted March 15, 2011 Speedmaster,Firstly, a slightly belated welcome to the AutoIt forum. As many of your questions today ("But not sure what $txt is?") have shown that you are a complete newcomer to AutoIt could I suggest a little light reading to help you progress? Reading the Help file (at least the first few sections - Using AutoIt, Tutorials and the first couple of References) will help you enormously. You should also look at the excellent tutorials that you will find here and here - you will find other tutorials in the Wiki (the link is at the top of the page).Lack of familarity with the basics of AutoIt is not a problem - we all started there - but you will find it a lot less frustrating if you understand a little more of the syntax of AutoIt and the structure of its scripts.Good luck! Speedmaster
Thanks, very much. :-) I have downloaded both of those and been tinkering with them. I've also been flipping through the help. Trying to get my hands around the full scope of AutoIT, very impressed with what I've seen so far. Chris Speedmaster, Firstly, a slightly belated welcome to the AutoIt forum.
