wzsmith 0 Posted May 17, 2011 I've got a more complex script that I'm trying to run this in, but even something simple doesn't work. I'm trying to delete a directory that I know is accessible. if I run $err = filedelete("C:\Users\me\Desktop\bob") msgbox(0,"",$err) I get a 0 returned and nothing deleted. (bob is a directory, not a file) I've also tried adding a trailing backslash with no luck: $err = filedelete("C:\Users\me\Desktop\bob\") msgbox(0,"",$err) However, I can delete an individual file: $err = filedelete("C:\Users\me\Desktop\bob.txt") msgbox(0,"",$err) Deleting file contents also works, but only for files. Sub directories will not be deleted: $err = filedelete("C:\Users\me\Desktop\bob\*.*") msgbox(0,"",$err) It's repeatable with directories in other locations. Currently, I'm writing the script on a Win 7 x64 box with 3.3.6.1. Compiling to an exe and running on a Win XP machine shows the same behavior. Any ideas? Help for FileDelete() says: Note: If the "path" passed to FileDelete is a folder, the files therein will be deleted just as if you had used the *.* mask. So I would think that it would work properly. Thanks in advance for the help.

wzsmith 0 Posted May 17, 2011 Nevermind. Just found DirRemove(). Now I need to figure out how to find the difference between a file and a folder.
Melba23 3,452 Posted May 17, 2011 (edited) wzsmith,I'm trying to delete a directoryThen I suggest you try DirRemove rather than FileDelete. M23Edit:Now I need to figure out how to find the difference between a file and a folderUse FileGetAttrib and look for "D". This one does work on both files and folders!
