Script running through/while restart?

Hey all,

I want to automate a installation of numerous programs for work. It will involve mapping drives ..selecting .exe...next next next finish install...restart

There is about 4 restarts involved. I would like to know if there's a way to re-start/continue a script after a restart.

I would assume once the power is lost to the machine the script dies and thats that.

Any ideas?

Hi,

You can use the startup folder/regkeys to start your script at startup, there is an example in the wiki if I remember right.

You can save the setup load into an ini file in order to know where to continue.

Hey,

Thanks guys!

Firefox could you please elaborate on "You can save the setup load into an ini file in order to know where to continue." I understand i can prompt it to run a script in the startup folder (which would mean it would run each time it is started up) but how will it know what script to run?

I imagine it would be something along the lines of:

Run script1

Before restart set 0 in .ini file to 1

restart

on startup check ini file

if ini file is 1 then run script 2

once script 2 is run set ini file to 2

Is this pretty much what its going to be doing? If so is all that info in Guinness _startup wiki?

Why not look at my UDF, the answer is yes for adding and removing from the startup folder.

Hey guys,

im still having troubles, i run my 1st script, it installs software then restarts. In that first script i have below pointing to a exe (2nd script) that needs to be run after the PC loads back up (i would love to bypass the Novell logon screen but i dont know if thats possible)

The issue at the moment is that it restarts, i put my novell login in and then before any desktop icons or anything comes up a few box's come up that finalizes the install. this is where i would like the 2nd script to kick in and automate through those box's
