I have finally - kind of - figured out how to do some things with Google APIs. Lots of doors may open.

But I have a general question: say you have developed a program to operate with Google APIs to get information - would you distrubute the program WITH your API key in source, and control access via referrer settings - or would you give the user an option to insert own API key ?

Maybe the number of requests per day is so high it won't make a difference at all. Very few people would be using the program anyway.

I assume here the query is against public, not account-related information, and does not write back information.

Sorry if this is a noob question, I am taking baby-steps here ;)

I am just a hobby programmer, and nothing great to publish right now.

I agree with JohnOne. Imagine if that facebook extension you used said "hey if you want to use me, the get a developer API from facebook". You would be like "what the??!" I'm just a simple user, what's an API and developer?!
