Need help with Tidy

Is there a way to set that Tidy will remove the following unnecessary spaces so for example instead of this line:

 

$aa & 'bb' & $cc

 I will get:

 

$aa&'bb'&$cc

 

and instead of this line:

 

Local $aa, $bb, $cc = 3

 

 I will get:

 

Local $aa,$bb,$cc = 3

 

Is there a way to set it up in Tidy?

No there is no option in Tidy. Please see the Tidy documentation for confirmation.

Tidy is intended to make the script more readable, so this is not an option.

Actually, Tidy is designed to do the opposite, it adds spaces when it finds lines like what you're looking to do.

It is designed to make the code more readable by making it "tidier". You're looking to go in the other direction and make it much harder to read. The only thing you'll gain by removing the spaces is making the file size smaller by one character every time it finds a space, and because of the way hard drive allocation units are set up, unless you're removing over 4000 spaces per file, you're not actually saving any space on the hard drive.

For me there is no difference in the difficulty of reading the script.

That's right, I do it for save space but not the kind of space you think about(space in the Hard disk).

I want to save space on each line. and it is also look for me more normal to write like this (without those spaces).

I do not nead spaces because I see colors. The colors are enough to understand when any string begins and ends ..

Perhaps it can be difficult to read in the new color scheme but I use the old one.

Therefore it is right to add such an option for those who want to use it.

 

I personally want that tidy will only add tabs when necessary and nothing more.

I don't know about option to do that.

So basically what you want to do is not use Tidy at all, you only need the program if you want to have your code formatted the way that Tidy is designed to format it.

 

If you want it to be formatted differently, then you'd need another program because Tidy is not the correct one.

You could always create your own, Tidy was originally written as an AutoIt script, if I'm not mistaken, so it's not impossible to do it.

I can only agree that I shouldn't decide what is good for you, which I don't actually and that is why Tidy is optional for you to use.

Therefore it is right to add such an option for those who want to use it.

This will not happen in Tidy, but might one day in au3stripper as that is the Utility I wrote for the purpose of getting rid of the extra code/characters not needed at compilation time..

So guess you have a nice project on your hands to write it yourself.

The intent is just to compress the spaces out from the operators and write to an alternate script file.

I would use a character class and not a pipe list (whatever it's called), plus this will strip inside quotes (strings), but I take care of this in PreExpand so it's not your concern.
