just a quick quiestion arrays in array

i would like to know if there is limitations on an array in an array

arrays can only hold 4096 characters, so I can't fileread() a file and stick the whole string in to an array item, so suppose i have an 2d array

 

example like you would see the array in _arraydisplay()

Filename|Filesize|$filearray

test.jpg|35222|$filedata_array1

asd.doc|400000|$filedata_array2

 

so question is
can i stick test.jpg in to an 1d array ($filedata_array1) splinting it in to multiple 4096 characteres pieces and then load that array in to an array item like in example?

is there limitations? or can i go big?

Where did you get the idea that an array can only hold 4096 characters? You can filereadtoarray any file as long as it fits in memory available.

an array item not the whole array

array[0]="string"  string length max = 4096"

That only applies to the length of a line in the script, not the length of a string in an array. Run this script to see what I mean.

oh, now i see, its _arraydisplay() that have the limit it seems

had to try it like you did with stringleng()

It's a listview item, not _ArrayDisplay().

thing is I always was looking at my arrays with _arraydisplay(), and coping the array text from there always was limited to 4k characters  so I wrongly assumed autoit have a limit on arrays
