They start with virtual keyword and ends with = 0. Here is the syntax for a pure virtual function, virtual void f() = 0; Adding on, pure virtual functions can only be declared in abstract classes. They aren't allowed to have a definition that the abstract class that declared them. And they must be defined in any class that inherits it (the pure virtual function).
