This is just fantastic! The thing I like about this is that you can obfuscate the code more than once without errors. Great Job!

Have a go with the current Beta v1.0.29.4 It will create shorter Var and Func names and sequences them individually. v1.0.29.4: - Fixed issues with relative includes using .. in the filename. - Ch

Don't understand the relation between the 2, but tell me why you feel this really is a problem ?

There was no relation between the 2 other than they are both include in AutoIt.

My reference was purely we cant use UPX as it causes virus warnings where ever you go , and now we have lost or will be losing Obfuscator..

So with a smile i wondered what would be next to go.

If you're trying to make your code secure, UPX isn't going to do anything. Obfuscator isn't going to do it for you either.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Understand, but they don't have any relation with the core of Autot3.

UPX is an external utility which was incorporated in the early days of AutoIt to make the output exe as small as possible. In those days size did matter! :)

Obfuscator was for me a fun project and a nice coding challenge but in to me doesn't really serve a purpose any more when talking about the obfuscation part.

The Func and variable stripping part still serves a purpose and is still a fun challenge to maintain.

Now, tell me where my line of thinking is wrong ? :)

Because i always associate anything to do with AutoIt as being AutoIt, as they are included within its menus to me its part of the whole.

We just see the program not individual pieces :)

I don't have any Ampersand (&) if i have understand well, anyway it's not only a warning, the script not compiled - not obfuscated work, the compiled-obfuscated not

There is a way to exclude that line from obfuscating if is not compatible?

Not quite, you're referencing a function in one of the parameters and since Obfuscator "obfuscates" variable and function names,Test_ will be something else in your script. Look at placing these around the function TEST_.

Note: The warning(s) will still appear.

#Obfuscator_Off
Func TEST_()
EndFunc   ;==>TEST_
#Obfuscator_On

I would also add that obfuscating script doesn't protect it, if that's what you though?! I personally use Obfuscator just to strip unused functions and variables.

I have read some days ago about obfuscator protection problems ( pratically is like not protect anything...and in the next future the encryption will be removed, i do not agree but that's another story ) but just wanted to understand why he had the problem with that ObjEvent. Thanks

I agree with wraithdu but assume the issue is something like this demo code where the function refers to the prefix of a Func name:

#Obfuscator_Parameters=/striponly
#Obfuscator_Ignore_Funcs=Test_Sub

$oObj = 0
ObjEvent($oObj, "Test_")

Func Test_Sub()
    Return 1
EndFunc

It will still trigger an error but you have ensured it should not give a problem.

 

Code like this will not give an error as I explain below.

#Obfuscator_Parameters=/striponly
#Obfuscator_Ignore_Funcs=Test_Sub

$oObj = 0
ObjEvent($oObj, "Test_")

Func Test_()
    Return 1
EndFunc

Explanation: Obfuscator.dat contains the AutoIt3 functions that have a literal string as parameter pointing to a Func.

In this case, when objevent(p1,p2) contains a literal string in parameter 2, so Obfuscator will assume that this is a func name and match that against the found Func names.

Functionname,Parameter to check,0=check for function/1=check for Variable
objevent,2,0

The problem should go away by itself when the beta gets released as an official version.

Since functions are now first-class citizens you can use:

$oObj = 0
ObjEvent($oObj, Test_)

Func Test_()
    Return 1
EndFunc

This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available). An absolute must have in your bookmarks.
Another excellent RegExp tutorial. Don't forget downloading your copy of up-to-date pcretest.exe and pcregrep.exe here
RegExp tutorial: enough to get started
PCRE v8.33 regexp documentation latest available release and currently implemented in AutoIt beta.

SQLitespeed is another feature-rich premier SQLite manager (includes import/export). Well worth a try.
SQLite Expert (freeware Personal Edition or payware Pro version) is a very useful SQLite database manager.
An excellent eBook covering almost every aspect of SQLite3: a must-read for anyone doing serious work.
SQL tutorial (covers "generic" SQL, but most of it applies to SQLite as well)
A work-in-progress SQLite3 tutorial. Don't miss other LxyzTHW pages!
SQLite official website with full documentation (may be newer than the SQLite library that comes standard with AutoIt)

wishfull thinking.. it will always be difficult for people to understand the limitations and when errors are displayed what to do about it.  :)

I see your point, but not in this case. As Jos already pointed out, the 2nd parameter to ObjEvent is a string function prefix, it is not the actual function or even function name. The only solution is still using the Ignore_Funcs directive (current and future AutoIt).
