guinness Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 It could've been a problem with Opera Turbo at the time, maybe upgrading the back end?! Who knows. In situations like that I would've cleared the cache and restarted Opera. Hellooopsforgotsendcommand Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 (edited) Its now happening again, couldnt get in so had to switch to Chrome. Yes you can try clearing cache but what about stuff in there I want. In future I will just have to use Chrome I guess. I regularly visit about 8 forums but this is the only one that I have trouble getting into. Edited July 19, 2011 by Hellooopsforgotsendcommand

Hellooopsforgotsendcommand Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 possibly but why doesn't it do that if I use Chrome?
JohnOne Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Dont know, sometimes when I connect through my phone, I am blocked, but I'm not sure if that is the IP it is using that is blocked. trancexx Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 possibly but why doesn't it do that if I use Chrome? You never wondered what makes the Earth spin or why the sky is blue? Do you know what Opera Turbo is?My first guess would be that it somehow involves proxy server. ♡♡♡ . eMyvnE
Hellooopsforgotsendcommand Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 Yes I am suspecting it's turbo but someone earlier said he was using turbo fine. Anyway it's happened again a few times, this time I cleared the cache and all private data restarted Opera and was still Blocked so I am writing this using Chrome!

ProgAndy Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Turbo uses opera proxies to compress the data if you have a low bandwidth connection. So if there are spammers using turbo, the Proxy will be blocked and as a result all users using turbo are affected. You should still be able to see the read-only site, though. *GERMAN* [note: you are not allowed to remove author / modified info from my UDFs]My UDFs:[_SetImageBinaryToCtrl] [_TaskDialog] [AutoItObject] [Animated GIF (GDI+)] [ClipPut for Image] [FreeImage] [GDI32 UDFs] [GDIPlus Progressbar] [Hotkey-Selector] [Multiline Inputbox] [MySQL without ODBC] [RichEdit UDFs] [SpeechAPI Example] [WinHTTP]UDFs included in AutoIt: FTP_Ex (as FTPEx), _WinAPI_SetLayeredWindowAttributes

GEOSoft Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Then it falls off. Turbo is just a compression system that runs through the Opera servers to make make the page code smaller. I think the difference on a page load should be about the same as the amount of time required to blink but it sure sounds neat when Opera describes it. People don't always use (not so) common sense. I remember a few years back on a MS news group where someone was having a problem with erratic keyboard behaviour in Windows 98SE. Our policy was if there was another MSMVP already in the thread then try to avoid jumping in. I followed that thread for about a week with all the possible things to try based on the theory that Windows was at fault. Finally I couldn't stand it anymore and I posted "FFS - swap out the keyboard, it's a hardware issue!". Problem solved and the comments coming back were idiotic things like "Nice catch.". Doesn't take a lot to figure out that the first thing to check for keyboard issues is a hardware failure. George Question about decompiling code?
