Why doesnt regex match script tag?

Hello

I am trying to remove script from html file.

Sofar I've managed to come up with this:

StringRegExpReplace($data,"(<script.*?>.*?</script>)","")

I also tried:

StringRegExpReplace($data,"(<script(\s|.*?)>(\s|\n|.*?)</script>)","")

but it doesnt really remove script tag. That tag contains multi line script.

Does anyone know know what how to write right regex pattern for this job?

outputs:

but no " useful html is here"

Edit: I figured ? was missin from .*.It should be (?s)<script[^>]*>.*?</script> o at least that helped me. an other problem is that it seems to mess up encoding. like i get squares instead of äöüõ

The ? inverts greediness of the * quantifier. Normally * is very hungry and will eat everything up until the very last </script>. The ? puts it on a diet and tells it to stop a the very first occurence.

ConsoleWrite outputs eveything as ANSI, so that's why you get squares.
