IanN1990 Posted February 10, 2013 Share Posted February 10, 2013 (edited) This is just an idea, and i am not 100% sure on how to start it. I was wondering, if 1 program has admin rights. Does this mean any program launched under it to also be admin or would it be able to "evelate" other programs to admin satus? BrewManNH Posted February 10, 2013 Share Posted February 10, 2013 What have you tried? Because I'm thinking it would be very simple to test this yourself without having to ask any questions. Why would you ask a question like this when the test for it would take probably 5 minutes to accomplish? If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. IanN1990 Posted February 10, 2013 Author Share Posted February 10, 2013 (edited) A fair point I had searched the forums, but didn't come up with much luck. I then had to prepare dinner, which is why i asked as i figured this could turn into a small project. So on that note. If a program has admin, and it runs another program then that program gets admin. I assume this also means if a admined program can evelate other programs to admin as well. So now i need to write some code that can evelate other processes depending on their pid. (As i would rather evelate something, rather then restart it with admin). I am aware of "RunAs" but i dont want to keep username/password inside of a script. Edited February 10, 2013 by IanN1990 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
guinness Posted February 10, 2013 Share Posted February 10, 2013 My test would have been this: #include <Constants.au3> If MsgBox(BitOR($MB_YESNO, $MB_SYSTEMMODAL), 'IsAdmin: ' & (IsAdmin() = 1) & ', PID: ' & @AutoItPID, 'Do you want to Run again?') = $IDYES Then Run(@ScriptFullPath) UDF List: _AdapterConnections() • _AlwaysRun() • _AppMon() • _AppMonEx() • _ArrayFilter/_ArrayReduce • _BinaryBin() • _CheckMsgBox() • _CmdLineRaw() • _ContextMenu() • _ConvertLHWebColor()/_ConvertSHWebColor() • _DesktopDimensions() • _DisplayPassword() • _DotNet_Load()/_DotNet_Unload() • _Fibonacci() • _FileCompare() • _FileCompareContents() • _FileNameByHandle() • _FilePrefix/SRE() • _FindInFile() • _GetBackgroundColor()/_SetBackgroundColor() • _GetConrolID() • _GetCtrlClass() • _GetDirectoryFormat() • _GetDriveMediaType() • _GetFilename()/_GetFilenameExt() • _GetHardwareID() • _GetIP() • _GetIP_Country() • _GetOSLanguage() • _GetSavedSource() • _GetStringSize() • _GetSystemPaths() • _GetURLImage() • _GIFImage() • _GoogleWeather() • _GUICtrlCreateGroup() • _GUICtrlListBox_CreateArray() • _GUICtrlListView_CreateArray() • _GUICtrlListView_SaveCSV() • _GUICtrlListView_SaveHTML() • _GUICtrlListView_SaveTxt() • _GUICtrlListView_SaveXML() • _GUICtrlMenu_Recent() • _GUICtrlMenu_SetItemImage() • _GUICtrlTreeView_CreateArray() • _GUIDisable() • _GUIImageList_SetIconFromHandle() • _GUIRegisterMsg() • _GUISetIcon() • _Icon_Clear()/_Icon_Set() • _IdleTime() • _InetGet() • _InetGetGUI() • _InetGetProgress() • _IPDetails() • _IsFileOlder() • _IsGUID() • _IsHex() • _IsPalindrome() • _IsRegKey() • _IsStringRegExp() • _IsSystemDrive() • _IsUPX() • _IsValidType() • _IsWebColor() • _Language() • _Log() • _MicrosoftInternetConnectivity() • _MSDNDataType() • _PathFull/GetRelative/Split() • _PathSplitEx() • _PrintFromArray() • _ProgressSetMarquee() • _ReDim() • _RockPaperScissors()/_RockPaperScissorsLizardSpock() • _ScrollingCredits • _SelfDelete() • _SelfRename() • _SelfUpdate() • _SendTo() • _ShellAll() • _ShellFile() • _ShellFolder() • _SingletonHWID() • _SingletonPID() • _Startup() • _StringCompact() • _StringIsValid() • _StringRegExpMetaCharacters() • _StringReplaceWholeWord() • _StringStripChars() • _Temperature() • _TrialPeriod() • _UKToUSDate()/_USToUKDate() • _WinAPI_Create_CTL_CODE() • _WinAPI_CreateGUID() • _WMIDateStringToDate()/_DateToWMIDateString() • Au3 script parsing • AutoIt Search • AutoIt3 Portable • AutoIt3WrapperToPragma • AutoItWinGetTitle()/AutoItWinSetTitle() • Coding • DirToHTML5 • FileInstallr • FileReadLastChars() • GeoIP database • GUI - Only Close Button • GUI Examples • GUICtrlDeleteImage() • GUICtrlGetBkColor() • GUICtrlGetStyle() • GUIEvents • GUIGetBkColor() • Int_Parse() & Int_TryParse() • IsISBN() • LockFile() • Mapping CtrlIDs • OOP in AutoIt • ParseHeadersToSciTE() • PasswordValid • PasteBin • Posts Per Day • PreExpand • Protect Globals • Queue() • Resource Update • ResourcesEx • SciTE Jump • Settings INI • SHELLHOOK • Shunting-Yard • Signature Creator • Stack() • Stopwatch() • StringAddLF()/StringStripLF() • StringEOLToCRLF() • VSCROLL • WM_COPYDATA • More Examples... IanN1990 Posted February 10, 2013 Author Share Posted February 10, 2013 (edited) Thing is, i recently found out that i need to run my system script as admin to ensure it works 100% of the time.Problem is, i code alot which means restarting the script alot as well. UAC prompts would get annoying very fast (though i am not willin to disable UAC over it) and if scite is run as admin, then you cant see any results from consolewrite which would also be a bumper ^^.So i found this post.http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/create-administrator-mode-shortcuts-without-uac-prompts-in-windows-vista/My idea is, in my script. It runs the task with "optional" parmater being the Pid of the script.The task runs my exe, which "because its a task has admin rights" and then evelates the orignal script to admint as well. Without a UAC Prompt and without needing to restart the script.Now for this to work it needs.A task set up - I know had to doA way for my exe to act on a paramter. ie Run('"D:Desktoptest.exe" 13456) script then writes "12345" - donno how to do yetEvelate another script or program to admin - also dont know how to do yetThis is my full thought process Edited February 10, 2013 by IanN1990 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
JohnOne Posted February 10, 2013 Share Posted February 10, 2013 I doubt you can change the permissions of a running executable. If you run scite as admin, your console output will be fine. JohnOne Posted February 14, 2013 Share Posted February 14, 2013 (edited) how about this? Run(@Comspec & ' /c set __COMPAT_LAYER=RunAsInvoker & start "" "Your Program Path"',"") That is for running something which requires elevation, as restricted user(or something like that) Edited February 14, 2013 by JohnOne AutoIt Absolute Beginners Require a serial Pause Script Video Tutorials by Morthawt ipify Monkey's are, like, natures humans. IanN1990 Posted February 15, 2013 Author Share Posted February 15, 2013 Yea, what i was more looking for is a way for a script that has admin. To prompt other running scripts or programs to admin (without the new to restart or rerun the exe) but from the research i have done online. I dont think this is possible.
