I am new to Autoit, but i believe the macro "DesktopDir" does not allow enough characters to read the path to my Windows 7 desktop. When called it comes back showing a path that is just part of the real path. I wil appreciate knowing another macro that will read the right path, or how "DesktopDir"can be corrected. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes, if a path has a space in it, you need to add quotes before and after like

""&DesktopDir&""

Thanks all for quick response, The path the macro @DesktopDir should be looking for is C:UserschuckDesktop. The program starts and and returns a dialogue box saying path: "serschuckDesktop" does not exist; that is, it truncates the path.

I tried " " &@DesktopDir& " ". It also truncated the path. It tcame back with "serschuckpublicDesktop".

Try this:

#Include <APIConstants.au3>
#Include <WinAPIEx.au3>

ConsoleWrite('Desktop => ' & _WinAPI_ShellGetSpecialFolderPath($CSIDL_DESKTOP) & @CR)

are you doing something along the lines of "Send(@DesktopDir)?

I've had send lines get cut off many times. 1 solution which may work is to add Opt("SendKeyDelay", some number to change the speed) at the top of your script

Another would be to perhaps do something like

$DesktopDir = StringSplit(@DesktopDir,"")

And then Send the Different elements of the new $DesktopDir array seperately

Send($DesktopDir[1])

Send($DesktopDir[2])

ect.
