Hello,

I have string (loaded from file) containing many 'pages' each with "Name : ........multiple lines ending in CRLF, then Escape Formfeed".  I want to use StringRegExp to select each page in turn. I started thinking the pattern should be "Name.*ef".  But . does not include rn, so I looked at (?s), now . includes r and n but also includes f which I don't want. How do I build the right selection character set?

Where does it say rn contains f?

Can you provide an example of input and output, because I'm sure there is a better way of using a greedy operator.

What's wrong with just using the hex value of the characters you wish to include. Form Feed is "x0C", so Not Form Feed would be "[^x0C]+". I haven't tested it.

using the s option (?s) at the head of the regexp will make dot (.) match newlines as well.

So your pattern could simply be:

(?s).*\f

This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available). An absolute must have in your bookmarks.

SQLitespeed is another feature-rich premier SQLite manager (includes import/export). Well worth a try.
SQLite Expert (freeware Personal Edition or payware Pro version) is a very useful SQLite database manager.
