EvenSteven
I come from python and in python arrays are mutable so what I want to do is really simple there but I'm having trouble in Autoit. Let's say I have an array of size 15 that contains natural numbers 1 to 15. I know $N[13] = 14. My program uses this value no problem but I have trouble deleting it from the array or creating a new one without said value. In fact, it wouldn't even bother me if the array didn't change size as long as $N[13] = 0 or something but obviously you can't just be lazy like in python assign a value to the index directly. I could think of other ways of doing it but I really don't what's allowed. Is there more documentation on arrays then http://www.autoitscript.com/wiki/Arrays ? Thanks. nitekram
Also might be helpful if you are doing a for loop to search for the value of the index, then from what I have read, you must start at the last index and go to the first one - so step would be -1. 2¢ All by me:"Sometimes you have to go back to where you started, to get to where you want to go." BrewManNH
I'm not too clear on what you're asking but if you want to reassign the value in an array element, all you need to do is something like $N[13] = 0. If you want to delete the 13th element, you'd use _ArrayDelete as stated earlier. Of course that will make the 14th element the 13th now as it will resize the array when you lop a piece out of the middle. If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. EvenSteven
Yeah now I feel dumb not looking at help. Sometimes you overlook the most obvious places _ArrayDelete is exactly what I was looking for. You guys are great. And nitekram, you're pretty sharp. I coded a _FindIndex function using a for loop and whatnot right before(there's probably already a func that does that now that I think about it but at least it was good practice lol). I was just puzzled after. Anyways back to work. Cheers. Edited March 1, 2011 by EvenSteven
