I get this running the script.

 

StringCompare time = 991.068876934761
Normal Compare time = 608.004379905486

Doesn't matter if the stringcompare is tested first or second, consistently slower by about 300ms.

If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.

Same test comparison that brewmannh did, my result was 70% faster without the stringcompare() func all 6 times I ran it.

But brewmannh's speeds made me realize just how slow this machine I'm running is!!  :lmao:  :mad2:

Common sense plays a role in the basics of understanding AutoIt... If you're lacking in that, do us all a favor, and step away from the computer.

I have to say, the computer I tested this on was my company laptop, not my home PC. I'm sure my 7 year old desktop wouldn't show such great numbers.

OK, point taken everyone. I guess I will revert back to var1 = var2 in that particular script.

 

No, var1 == var2  is faster.

?? strange behavior

It Seems That StringCompare () runs normal, while "=" has worst performances

seems a demerit of  "=" rather than a merit of StringCompare

maybe for some reason comparing by using "=" has some penalization on your PC environment
