Split every letter

I need help, I don't know how to split every letter in variable, example:

Dim $var = "Hello world!"
Dim $varlength StringLen ( $var )
Dim $result = "Result: "
 ;Split every variable $var letters:
 ;$splitresult = ???
For $i=0 to $varlength
    $result &= $splitresult[$i] & "."
Next
;Output should be like this: "H.e.l.l.o. .w.o.r.l.d.!."
ConsoleWrite( @CRLF & $result & @CRLF & @CRLF )

ConsoleWrite(stringregexpreplace($var,'(.)','$1.') & @CRLF)

and then all the fun rube ways of stringmidding

I would like to discuss more about AutoIt best practices because  I am in that mood today, so please argue with me as to why Dim is good in ALL situations! =)
