How to convert string that retrieved from inputbox into math equation.

for example, if the user type a math equation like :

2x^2+3x-4

how to convert it into math equation so we can process the result?

Help file and forum have plenty. Execute("2+2") But I noticed you have an equation so you will have to do some replacing.

You need to be more specific about what you mean by "maths equation". Guinness is right that Execute is a way to execute strings as AutoIt code, which allows for maths expressions to be used.

Short example is:

Execute(StringReplace("2x^2+3x-4", "x", "(" & $x & ")"))

The good news is that the latest beta alpha (thanks jchd) version of AutoIt allows the $ to be optional, so you only need to declare a variable 'x' then execute, rather than replacing x with its value.

If you want to be able to manipulate the equation then you are looking at something way more complex. You will also have to think about what you want the output format to be, as AutoIt doesn't really do well at nested structures.

For those who care, Mat meant "last alpha' not "last beta".

This wonderful site allows debugging and testing regular expressions (many flavors available). An absolute must have in your bookmarks.

SQLitespeed is another feature-rich premier SQLite manager (includes import/export). Well worth a try.
SQLite Expert (freeware Personal Edition or payware Pro version) is a very useful SQLite database manager.
An excellent eBook covering almost every aspect of SQLite3: a must-read for anyone doing serious work.
SQL tutorial (covers "generic" SQL, but most of it applies to SQLite as well)
