Do not run if process is already running in memory

I am still getting my feet wet with autoit. In DOS batch file programming I am able to check if there is already the same process running and end current, most recent process. i would like to do the same thing using autoit. I mainly do this to prevent conflicts since my scripts can only have one instance.

Lets suppose the compiled script is called "test.exe"...

for /f "tokens=2" %%a in ('tasklist /FI "IMAGENAME eq test.exe" ^| find /I /N "test.exe"') do set PID=%%a &set /a count=count+1

_Singleton("Test EXE") should be enough. "Test EXE" is a string to identify this occurrence of the script and can be set by you.

Yes, but the square brackets are to display optional parameters and shouldn't be included e.g.

_Singleton('Unique_Mutex_myProgram', 0)

Thanks I just tried it. However it doesnt look like its doing the same thing as what I described. its preventing from ANY occurance of of test.exe to launch. I still need it to allow one occurance in memory. it is only meant to prevent itself from continuing if there is already one actively running in memory. Sorry if it was implied that I would add the rest of the code to do this. I have no idea how to enhance it to do the same as my code example in DOS batch form in my fitst post. Thank you in advance!

Did you run the example provided in the Help file? How it works (depending on the value you specified) is it will exit the current script if another instance (Mutex) is running. Or kook at ProcessExists, though _Singleton is better due to the fact the name of the executable doesn't matter. What you have now can easily be workaround with a little renaming.

The below works, where ULSplash.exe is the actuall name of the process.

Well that doesn't necessarily have to be the process name it's more of a unique string, for example I use a randomly created GUID.
