Delylej
I am testing software and am having trouble detecting the state of a checkbox. I have included an attachment of the dialog and Window Info data. I have tried various calls (ControlClick, ControlSend, ControlCommand) and get various results. My test code: #include <WindowsConstants.au3> #include <GUIConstantsEx.au3> Opt("MustDeclareVars" , 1) Opt("WinTitleMatchMode" , -2) ; 1=start, 2=subStr, 3=exact, 4=advanced, -1 to -4=Nocase Opt("WinDetectHiddenText" , 1) ; 0=don't detect, 1=do detect WinActivate("New File Format", "Create a backup before converting") WinWaitActive("New File Format", "Create a backup before converting") Sleep(3000) ; Fails: ControlClick("New File Format", "Create a backup before converting", "[NAME:checkBoxBackup]") ; Works: ControlClick("New File Format", "Create a backup before converting", "[NAME:buttonhelp]") ; Works but toggles: ControlSend("New File Format", "Create a backup before converting", "[NAME:checkBoxBackup]", "{SPACE}") ; Works: Local $return = ControlCommand ("New File Format", "Create a backup before converting", "[NAME:checkBoxBackup]", "IsVisible", "") ; MsgBox(0, "$return", $return) ; Works: Local $return = ControlCommand ("New File Format", "Create a backup before converting", "[NAME:checkBoxBackup]", "IsEnabled", "") ; MsgBox(0, "$return", $return) ; Fails: Local $return = ControlCommand ("New File Format", "Create a backup before converting", "[NAME:checkBoxBackup]", "IsChecked", "") ; MsgBox(0, "$return", $return) ; Fails: Local $return = ControlCommand ("New File Format", "Create a backup before converting", "[NAME:checkBoxBackup]", "Check", "") ; Fails: Local $return = ControlCommand ("New File Format", "Create a backup before converting", "[NAME:checkBoxBackup]", "UnCheck", "") ; Works but toggles: Local $return = ControlCommand("New File Format", "Create a backup before converting", "[NAME:checkBoxBackup]", "Check", "") Any ideas as to why? water
I never had the need to do it myself but I remember that Windows Forms is hard to automate. Search the forum for "Windows Forms" in the thread title and you might find an answer. water
ControlRead and ControlGetState? AutoIt doesn't have such functions. jdelaney
whoops, was going off of flawed memory ControlGetText, disregard the second option. maybe even try: _GUICtrlButton_GetCheck Edited November 16, 2012 by jdelaney IEbyXPATH-Grab IE DOM objects by XPATH IEscriptRecord-Makings of an IE script recorder ExcelFromXML-Create Excel docs without excel installed GetAllWindowControls-Output all control data on a given window. Delylej
That was something I hadn't tried. But no. ControlGetText just returns the text to the side of the 'CheckBox'. Not the state of the checkbox. Thanks for the suggestion.
jdelaney
horrible workaround...you can do a pixel search within the box IEbyXPATH-Grab IE DOM objects by XPATH IEscriptRecord-Makings of an IE script recorder ExcelFromXML-Create Excel docs without excel installed GetAllWindowControls-Output all control data on a given window. BrewManNH
Is there by any chance a hot key for the check box, in other words, when you hit ALT does one of the characters in the text next to it get underlined? If you can activate it by a hot key, then you might be able to check/uncheck the box with a ControlSend to the window instead of trying to click the checkbox. Delylej
No, there is no HotKey. I wish it did. ControlSend("New File Format", "Create a backup before converting", "[NAME:checkBoxBackup]", "{SPACE}") does toggle the checkbox, but I was looking for the state (Checked/Unchecked) to determine my next action in the script. So I'll do the pixel thing then the above send command if it is nessesary. Thanks all.
PapaSan
And in real life one should be able to detect the " checked, unchecked or disabled " state of a checkbox. I'm not too sure about the pixel detection solution since the gui can be colored/styled in various ways. I'm very interested in the outcome of this. Please do post your finding for this. Thanks.
