mohammadezazi
How I can pass a value or variable between 2 application that both have been compiled with AutoIt? Is "Environment Variables" a good idea? or there is another way. aslo i don't want to do this by registry keys or a file or folder flag. And if "Windows Environment Variables" is a good idea, how i can create or call or use this Variables in AutoIt? Thanks for any attention. guinness
Look at WM_COPYDATA in my signature or for the hidden windows look at _AppMon which is there as well for an idea. Moderators JLogan3o13 Posted July 31, 2013 Moderators Share Posted July 31, 2013 @mohammadezazi - As you have seen, there are a number of ways to do what you want, depending on your specific needs, from WM_COPYDATA to writing to an ini and reading from the other executable, to having the one exe call the other with specific parameters. What we need from you is more information on what exactly you're trying to accomplish. Help us help you "Profanity is the last vestige of the feeble mind. mohammadezazi
Thank you all. I've wrote a messenger program (by Autoit) that checks a folder for it file changes periodically in 15 mins. and I have another main program that running all time in clients, and has a tray icon. I want to pop up a TrayTip in main program tray, when the messenger's process detects a file change in that folder. So how i can say to main program that the messenger has detected a change now. I think I must transfer a value between these 2 processes. I want to use the loop located in my main program to detect the change is send by messenger. water
What you are looking for is called Inter Process Communication (IPC). On the forum you will find a lot of examples how to do it.
