Does autoIT support the automation for Silverlight objects?

Recommended Posts

express

Hi Friends,

We have one application which is being developed by using Silver light Technology & ASP.NET

we are trying to automate this application. But IE Developer tool bar is not able to recognize the silver light objects(controls) which are present in the application. Not able to view the source code of the application using right click on it.

Any chances, can we automate Silver light objects usiing AutoIT ? if not , which tool will help us for automating this.

Please help here.

Regards

Viji

Silverlight supports UI Automation so you can do what you want with AutoIt. Search the forum for UI Automation.

However you won't find concrete Silverlight examples, but if you are familiar with other programming languages then it wouldn't be too hard to work-out AutoIt code upon examples from there.

The main problem is that no one has made UDF-like code and without that it's not expected that UI Automation API gets bigger attention.

After you create the Silverlight plug-in (typically with a HTML object tag), you can retrieve a reference to the plug-in instance in the HTML DOM by referencing its ID. The following JavaScript example shows how to retrieve the ID of the Silverlight plug-in by using the document.getElementById method.

var plugin_1 = document.getElementById("SLPlugin_1");

Can you prepare some kind of a test website that uses Silverlight?
