SQL (.mdf) To Array

Lately, I've been pulling data from an Access database to an array. Here is the simplified code...

I've recently learned that I need to do the same thing to a SQL (.mdf) database. I've searched around the forums, and I think I can use the code above. Only I need to change the ODBC driver. I did some more searching, but I've not found a list of ODBC drivers. Are they documented somewhere? Am I even on the right track?

I've been searching and I might be able to solve the problem by replacing...

$connection.Open("Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; DBQ=" & $dbname)

; With...

$connection.Open("Driver={SQL Server}; DBQ=" & $dbname)

I'll give it a try, and post the result...

No dice. Got the following error...

$connection.Open("Driver={SQL Server}; DBQ=" & $dbname)^ ERROR

Error: The requested action with this object has failed.

Anybody got an idea?

if you use Access then try to close connection string with ';'  character :

$connection.Open("Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; DBQ=" & $dbname & ";")

At this point, I'm thinking that it is impossible to read straight from an MDF file. However, I think I can pull data from a database that is attached to a SQL installation. I've verified that SQL 2008 Express is installed on the machine that creates the database. (database is created by third-party software)  I had to follow this guide to add Management Studio to SQL 2008...

I'm currently working on enabling remote connections to the database by following this guide...

After that, I'm going to try to access the database using Management Studio on my (seperate) machine. If that works, then in theory, I should be able to connect to the database using the "{SQL Server}" driver. Once/if I get this working, I'll post any additional steps, and the modified code.

Managed to access the database using Management Studio. I had to follow yet another guide...

My specific problem was fixed by "Step 4", the browser service was disabled on that machine. (probably by the jerk guy who installed the software that creates the database, lol)

So tomorrow, I will attempt to tweak my code to connect to that database instance, but tonight I drink!
