SQL (.mdf) To Array

Lately, I've been pulling data from an Access database to an array. Here is the simplified code...

$dbname = "C:\filepath\file.mdb"
$maintable = "MAIN_TABLE_NAME"
$query = "SELECT * FROM " & $maintable

Local $fields[6]
$fields[0] = 5
$fields[1] = "Stuff"
$fields[2] = "StartStuff"
$fields[3] = "EndStuff"
$fields[4] = "TotalStuff"
$fields[5] = "YouWin"

$connection = ObjCreate("ADODB.Connection")
$connection.Open("Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; DBQ=" & $dbname)
$location = $connection.Execute($query)

Local $output[1][$fields[0]]
$h = 1
While Not $location.EOF
   For $i = 1 To $fields[0] Step 1
         $output[$h-1][$i-1] = $location.fields($fields[$i]).value
   Next
   $outrows = UBound($output, 1)
   If $outrows = $h Then
      ReDim $output[$outrows + 1][$fields[0]]
   EndIf
   $h = $h + 1
   $location.MoveNext
Wend
$connection.Close

I've recently learned that I need to do the same thing to a SQL (.mdf) database. I've searched around the forums, and I think I can use the code above. Only I need to change the ODBC driver. I did some more searching, but I've not found a list of ODBC drivers. Are they documented somewhere? Am I even on the right track?

if you use Access then try to close connection string with ';'  character :

$connection.Open("Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; DBQ=" & $dbname & ";")

At this point, I'm thinking that it is impossible to read straight from an MDF file. However, I think I can pull data from a database that is attached to a SQL installation. I've verified that SQL 2008 Express is installed on the machine that creates the database. (database is created by third-party software)  I had to follow this guide to add Management Studio to SQL 2008...

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/bethmassi/archive/2011/02/18/step-by-step-installing-sql-server-management-studio-2008-express-after-visual-studio-2010.aspx

I'm currently working on enabling remote connections to the database by following this guide...

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/walzenbach/archive/2010/04/14/how-to-enable-remote-connections-in-sql-server-2008.aspx

After that, I'm going to try to access the database using Management Studio on my (seperate) machine. If that works, then in theory, I should be able to connect to the database using the "{SQL Server}" driver. Once/if I get this working, I'll post any additional steps, and the modified code.

Managed to access the database using Management Studio. I had to follow yet another guide...

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sql_protocols/archive/2007/05/13/sql-network-interfaces-error-26-error-locating-server-instance-specified.aspx

My specific problem was fixed by "Step 4", the browser service was disabled on that machine. (probably by the jerk guy who installed the software that creates the database, lol)

So tomorrow, I will attempt to tweak my code to connect to that database instance, but tonight I drink!

And... success! I finally got the code to work. Here's the code... (follow the 2 above posts first)

; Add this code to the beginning for error checking. It intercepts COM errors,
; (ODBC Driver errors), and gives you useful information for troubleshooting.

$oMyError = ObjEvent("AutoIt.Error","MyErrFunc")    ; Initialize a COM error handler
; This is my custom defined error handler
Func MyErrFunc()
  Msgbox(0,"AutoItCOM Test","We intercepted a COM Error !"    & @CRLF  & @CRLF & _
             "err.description is: " & @TAB & $oMyError.description  & @CRLF & _
             "err.windescription:"   & @TAB & $oMyError.windescription & @CRLF & _
             "err.number is: "       & @TAB & hex($oMyError.number,8)  & @CRLF & _
             "err.lastdllerror is: "   & @TAB & $oMyError.lastdllerror   & @CRLF & _
             "err.scriptline is: "   & @TAB & $oMyError.scriptline   & @CRLF & _
             "err.source is: "       & @TAB & $oMyError.source       & @CRLF & _
             "err.helpfile is: "       & @TAB & $oMyError.helpfile     & @CRLF & _
             "err.helpcontext is: " & @TAB & $oMyError.helpcontext _
            )
Endfunc
$serv = "ServerName\InstanceName,Port"
; "ServerName" can be the IP Address or resolved name.
; "InstanceName" can be found in HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Microsoft SQL Server/Instance Names/SQL,
;       of the registry in the machine running SQL, in my case it was "SQLEXPRESS"
; "Port", is the port number, default for SQL is 1433. Mine was 1117 for some reason. If your
;       port number is not 1433. You can find it in... (replace "SQLEXPRESS" with your instance name)
;       HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Microsoft SQL Server/SQLEXPRESS/MSSQLServer/SuperSocketNetLib/TCP
$datab = "Database" ; You can find the database name in SQL Server Management Studio under "Databases"
$usernam = "Domain\User"
$passwrd = "Password"

$connection.Open("DRIVER={SQL Server};SERVER=" & $serv & ";DATABASE=" & $datab & ";UID=" & $usernam ";PWD=" $passwrd ";Trusted_Connection=yes")

Example...

$connection.Open("DRIVER={SQL Server};SERVER=192.168.1.250\SQLEXPRESS,1433;DATABASE=cheesesql;UID=CORP\Tony;PWD=SauceBoss;Trusted_Connection=yes")
