Compiling an exe of an "hello world" autoit script gives a result of a 300 KB file. Is there any way to make it lighter? Neutro Posted February 2, 2014 Author Share Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) I'm using default AutoIT install setup. 300 KB seems a big file size to me just to display a message using msgbox I'm actually asking this because at work sometimes i need computers of a distant site to download my autoIT scripts, and when this distant site has low bandwitch, when you multiply 300KB by 30 computers or more, the bandwitch gets saturated fast. I know I could just send the script once on a computer and use it as a server for the others but that's more complicated to do. Edit: ok i understand now: Modularized Compilation/variable sized compiled files: There are no plans to break AutoIt into components so that compiling a script will be smaller by only containing the components being used instead of everything. There are a couple reasons for this. First, it's a technological nightmare to implement. Second, it breaks any form of dynamic code. Features like Execute(), /AutoIt3ExecuteLine and /AutoIt3ExecuteScript would be broken. Having each compiled script capable of acting as a full-interpreter is a very powerful feature. Also, regardless of the size of a compiled file, remember that you still get a stand-alone product with no run-time dependencies outside what the operating system provides. A little size is a small price to pay. Sorry i asked this so!
