qwert Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 I'm changing a "previously working" script over to On Event Mode. Everything works fine, except for the context menu I added to a RichText control (which was processed in the While loop, of course). How do I set up my function (_ShowMenu) so it's activated upon a right click? I've searched for an example and could not locate one. Thanks for any help.
mpower Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Hi qwert, An example script would assist in other users helping you. Please post a sample script that demonstrates the issue you are having. Cheers
qwert Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 Well, the script is fairly complicated ... but the particular issue isn't. Here's the gist of what works in Message Loop Mode: : : While 1 Switch GUIGetMsg() Case $GUI_EVENT_CLOSE _Exit() Case $GUI_EVENT_SECONDARYUP _ShowMenu($GUI, $menu, $edit) EndSwitch WEnd : : Func _ShowMenu($hGUI, $hMenu, $hControl) ; < show menu if mouse is within RichEdit control> EndFunc ;==> _ShowMenu How can _ShowMenu be invoked (with its 3 parameters) in On Event Mode?
BrewManNH Posted June 26, 2014 Posted June 26, 2014 Have you tried using a context menu? If I posted any code, assume that code was written using the latest release version unless stated otherwise. Also, if it doesn't work on XP I can't help with that because I don't have access to XP, and I'm not going to.Give a programmer the correct code and he can do his work for a day. qwert Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 (edited) This is on a RichText control ... where a custom menu function is necessary (per everything I've read). For anyone following, here are two references: From help on GUICtrlSetOnEvent: OnEvent functions are only called when the option GUIOnEventMode is set to 1 - when in this mode GUIGetMsg() is NOT used at all. You can not call a function using parameters. Edited June 26, 2014 by qwert
qwert Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 OK, I have something that works ... but it might not be “the best”. Five elements are required: A normal menu is defined: $contextMenu = GUICtrlCreateContextMenu(GUICtrlCreateDummy()) $menu = GUICtrlGetHandle($contextMenu) $select = GUICtrlCreateMenuItem('Select All', $contextMenu) _ShowMenu() is defined as a function with no parameters ... so it’s hard-coded to support just the one menu. Individual functions are defined to support each entry in the menu. ... like Func _Select() for "Select All" on the menu. A GUI-level event is defined that references the child GUI. This causes the menu to pop up. GUISetOnEvent ( $GUI_EVENT_SECONDARYUP, "_ShowMenu", $hGUI_Child) Individual Control-level events are defined for each of the menu's entries: GUICtrlSetOnEvent ( $select, "_Select") Comments are welcome.
