Creating formatted documents?

I would like to create doc files with the following sort of detail:Coloured.PNG.9ba6be846281efb53516319cf47b4d11.PNG

Black, grey, blue and red text which can also be bolded or stricked out.

Since that is all I require, I thought to use .rtf instead of .docx for saving this. Also, since .rtf is closer to raw text, I assume it would be easier to write without a UI. Also, a .rtf file can be easier converted to/from a .xml document. Hence, the line above would give me the following .xml document: Template.xml

My plan is to use the above document as my template for the header/foot of the document, so that I basically:
1- Create .xml.
2- Append template head text.
3- Append my text with formatting tags.
4- Append template foot text.
5- Save .xml as .rtf.

Question: Is this a good way to go about this? Or are there much better ways than this?

You overcomplicated this.

Why not create template in RTF and then use them to create main documents ?

@mLipok Okay, I will give that a try. Thank you.

Am I correct to assume that when AutoIT creates an object which lets you use . to go through its members, it becomes VB code?
E.g. $myDoc.Selection.Font.ColorIndex = wdRed
